The 2024 presidential campaign has increasingly resembled a tale pulled from the pages of a dystopian fantasy novel, with both campaigns feeling as if they are being fueled by a dark and powerful magus behind the scenes. Both the Harris and Trump campaigns seem intent on spell casting the American populous, with each major event designed to captivate, sway, and control the minds of the populace through thought, word and deed. Much like the incarnations of wizards pulled from our most fabled fantasy novels, these events are structured to elicit powerful emotions, capture attention, and deepen loyalty above all else; especially logic and reason. Trump is Hitler, Harris is a communist; Vance is creepy; Walz is creepier. Ignore the message at your peril. Cast the wrong vote and the world ends.

“We Are Not Going Back”
The political messaging campaign of the 2024 presidential election is increasingly complex, layered with elements intended to entrance supporters and repel opponents. Like classical incantations of cunning folk seeking control over the minds of others, the messages are woven from carefully chosen words, symbols, and narratives. Every phrase, image, or color choice can act like an arcane ingredient—a materia used to stoke feelings of hope, fear, or anger. Images of idealized citizens, symbolic imagery, or catastrophic visions of "the other side" create atmospheres that trigger intense loyalty or revulsion. As in the best spellbinding tales, emotional triggers are central: the messages tap into citizens’ desires for security, prosperity, and identity, evoking near-mystical responses that shape how they perceive each party and candidate. Additionally, the repetition of political messages mimics the incantation of spells, which rely on chanting and ritual for potency. When the same slogans, promises, and warnings are repeated endlessly, they begin to embed themselves into the collective consciousness. Repetition, like a spell, imprints ideas into the minds of citizens until they feel not just convinced but certain. Like a dark wizard casting a hex, the persistence of these mantras can subtly influence beliefs, creating a kind of unquestioning faith or unwavering hostility toward a particular viewpoint or political opponent. The RNC and DNC alike use messaging that combines psychological influence techniques with the powerful tools of modern media. In today’s world digital platforms are the sorcerer's apprentice, spreading messages rapidly across social networks, turning ordinary people into agents of influence, and spell amplification. In recent days the controversy over Joe Rogan’s marathon interview with Donald Trump is a perfect example of this trend. With a rapid debate ensuing about Youtube’s possible ‘interreference’ of the interview through algorithm manipulation in stifling the effect of Rogan’s operation. He has offered an interview with Harris as well, and she has countered with her own spell craft, taking an interview with Shannon Sharpe.
The spells have taken effect of course, successfully fostering tribalism, where loyalty and opposition transform into uncompromising belief systems. Citizens, drawn in by the promises and threats of these messages, feel a moral imperative to support their enchanted candidate at all costs, often ruining years of personal and familial bonds in the process. As we draw closer and closer to election day, people are losing themselves to powerful forces that care not for their wellbeing. This 2024 election cycle is the greatest magical duel our society as seen since biblical times. We stand and observe in awe as these spells have taken hold; reality obscured, communities polarized, and emotions are stirred beyond reason, creating a world where people find themselves enthralled by forces both seen and unseen. Just as in the old tales of magic and power authored in our history, these political spells come with a warning: be aware of the forces at work, or risk falling under their influence.
By all means vote, but do so with a reasoned mind and raised heart that understands the balances of power at work in our world. The magus is called to neutrality in all things, both mundane and supernatural by necessity, for the one cannot harness the powers at work in our world if we are overtaken by polarized forces of magick.
Protect your mind at all costs in the coming week.
